Roseangle, Dundee

Roseangle, Dundee - Ref: WC0349

This photograph shows the south-west section of Roseangle, leading up to the (then St John's Church, at the extreme right) and the Perth Road.

Most residences were placed in their own grounds, though these have significantly shrunk since the Ordinance Survey maps of 1861 were drawn. At that time, most had ornamental garden fronts.

The road remains cobbled to this day.

The building left of centre was until recently a social club but is now a rest home.

The white building right of centre is where Seafield Road now is.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
