Coronation decorations, Dundee

Coronation decorations, Dundee - Ref: WC1698

The photograph shows the type of road equipment in use at the time (possibly for making tar). A postman stands outside the Bank. This also gives an idea of the postal uniform of the time.

The Band of Hope Union organised a gathering in Barrack Park. Approx 10,000 children attended. Each was given a souvenir card and badge donated by Mr D M Brown. Sports and amusements, Punch & Judy, Ventriloquist and conjurer entertained and music provided by the Band of the 3rdD V.B.R.H.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
