Garth Marenghi: This Bursted Earth Book Tour Friday 20th March 2026

Horror author Nick Steen is having visions… A sinister Black Steeple; eerie lights in the sky that look like a Catherine wheel but are not remotely a Catherine wheel… Plus a giant skeleton with a moustache. Are they omens? Auguries? Portenderings of things to come? (Spoiler - yes, they are).

For Nick Steen’s imagination is bursting out of his brain and threatening to burst in turn the entirety of Stalkford.

Can Nick stop the aforesaid bursting? Or have things already slightly burst regardless? And will there ultimately be a grand finale to this three-book series (aka a trilogy) or a more open-ended conclusion in order to leave potential room for further sequels? (That, btw, will ultimately be Garth’s decision.)

From the fevered imaginata of Horror Fiction’s Grand Frightener Garth Marenghi, author of Sunday Times-Bestselling Garth Marenghi’s TerrorTome and Garth Marenghi’s Incarcerat, come three freshly rancid tales of…

…THIS BURSTED EARTH…

Hardback copies of This Bursted Earth will be available for purchase on the day. Be warned: signings are strictly time-limited. You’ll get no more than one minute with the world’s greatest Frighternerman, Darkscribe, Doomsage (plus Man-Shee) before you’re moved on and/or manhandled.

The Extra Mile: An Evening with Kevin Sinfield Thursday 23 April 2026

On Thursday 23 April 2026 at the Iconic Caird Hall, we are delighted to be able to bring you an event and give you the opportunity of spending time with a very special person. You will hear all about the life of an achiever who has given himself a reason to go on and do superhuman things, superhuman things that now seem normal to him.

Kevin Sinfield, one of the most successful players in rugby league history. Having won many championships and Challenge Cup successes as part of great teams, he also earned individual accolades as winner of the Lance Todd Trophy the Harry Sunderland Trophy and he is one of only five British players to ever win the coveted Golden Boot as well as receiving an MBE: 2014 (services to rugby league football) OBE: 2021 (services to rugby league football and charitable fundraising) CBE: 2024 (services to motor neurone disease awareness).

But it is the understated way in which he does them, the amazing mindset and humbleness in which he carries them out. He has a reason and that’s what keeps him going and on Thursday 23 April 2026 in the Caird Hall we have the pleasure of hearing all about it.

Of course, we cannot give you any story of Kevin without mentioning friendships and one friendship in particular with Rob Burrow. They have been friends since they were 14 and 12 respectively and went on to sit next to each other every day in the dressing room throughout 15 years of rugby at the very heart of one of rugby league’s great teams. Their friendship and camaraderie extended beyond the field, and their bond grew stronger over the years. From shared victories to facing life’s challenges.

A night of Inspiration, motivation and leadership.

An event that receives rave reviews everywhere it goes.

Madama ButterflySunday 1 March 2026

Madama Butterfly - One of the most colourful & exotic operas

Music by G. Puccini. Sung in Italian with English Surtitles

Performed by the Dnipro Opera, from Ukraine

Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a live Orchestra numbering over 30 musicians.

We are delighted to bring back Dnipro Opera theatre from the Ukraine for our next Opera Season. This opera and ballet theatre has a long-standing heritage of top-quality opera productions, and we are excited to bring it back to the UK.

No opera can match the tragedy and sorrow of Puccini's Madama Butterfly.

Set in Japan at the turn of the last century, it is the story of a doomed love affair between an American naval officer and his young Japanese bride whose self-sacrifice and defiance of her family leads to tragedy.

Though infinitely sad and tragic, the compelling tale of Madama Butterfly remained Puccini's favourite opera - his supreme theatrical achievements also gave the world its most sublime and beautiful arias in history - One Fine Day and Love Duet, as well as the Humming Chorus which has been popular with opera-goers for over a century.

This touching tale of innocent love crushed between two utterly different cultures resonates as strongly as ever in today's world.

RSNO Season 2025:26

Thursday 4 December 2025

Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto

Imagine the sound of silence: 90 musicians creating a sound so still, and so quiet, that the air itself seems to be alive. That’s how Mahler begins his First Symphony: an incredible opening for an incredible adventure as a young genius explores life and death before rallying all his strength to shout for joy.

Giedre Šlekyte is our guide tonight – and the wonderful Nemanja Radulovic is the star in the heart-rending love song that is Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular Violin Concerto.

Thursday 19 March 2026

Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony

Beauty, passion and the miracles of nature – there’s no tale that an orchestra can’t tell, and there’s definitely no symphony quite like Tchaikovsky’s shattering Fourth. Raw tragedy, roof-raising triumph: it’s explosive stuff, so guest conductor Kristiina Poska begins with something a little more tranquil.

Arvo Pärt’s haunting Cantus is the perfect complement to a wonderful new set of songs from Elena Langer, inspired by the songs of birds and the nature poetry of Glyn Maxwell. Experience musical history in the making

*Commissioned by the RSNO. The Elena Langer New Commission is generously supported by Javan Herberg KC and Jessica Boyd KC.

Thursday 14 May 2026

Nicola Benedetti Plays Elgar

Scotland’s best-loved classical violinist, Nicola Benedetti, joins Scotland’s National Orchestra for Elgar’s lyrical Violin Concerto.

Her performance is the big, passionate heart of a concert that begins with a garland of musical fairy tales from Azerbaijan (a special favourite of conductor Kirill Karabits) and ends amid the dark magic and glittering romance of Stravinsky’s great ballet The Firebird.

Music doesn’t get more colourful.

The Music of John WilliamsThursday 7 May 2026

RSNO Present: The Music of John Williams

No one writes a movie theme like John Williams.

It’s no wonder he’s the world’s most popular film composer.

Join Hollywood conductor Richard Kaufman and the full might of Scotland’s National Orchestra for hit after hit. From Schindler’s List, E.T. and Superman to the music of Harry Potter, we’ve got your favourites covered.

If you think it sounds good in the cinema, wait until you hear it played live by the RSNO!

TIDE LINESSaturday 22 November 2025

TIDE LINES ANNOUNCE AUTUMN UK HEADLINE TOUR

IN SUPPORT OF THE NEW ALBUM

‘GLASGOW LOVE STORY’

Tide Lines are making a bigger impact than ever before as they build towards the April 25th release of their highly anticipated new album ‘Glasgow Love Story’. Their recent double A-side single ‘By The Quayside’ / ‘Leaving Town’ demonstrates their expanding powers at using evocative Scottish narratives to establish an emotional connection, supported by music that flows naturally between driving indie-rock and intimate folk-pop arrangements. Always a huge draw in the live arena, the band also recently performed in front of 67,000 people as they inspired Scotland to a triumphant Six Nations win over Wales at Murrayfield Stadium.

Now Tide Lines continue that ascendant momentum with confirmation of their autumn ‘Glasgow Love Story’ UK headline tour. It includes their biggest London show to date at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and concludes with a trio of gigs across Scotland at Edinburgh, Stirling and Dundee.

Vocalist / guitarist Robert Robertson says, “We can’t wait to get back out on the road for a run of shows that will include some of the songs from the new album. It’s been amazing to see our fans’ reaction to the singles on social media but nothing beats playing live and hearing people sing along! There are a lot of new venues for us on this tour which is exciting. First up, our adopted home city of Glasgow (which inspired the album) and our biggest ever headline show in Rouken Glen Park!”

The autumn headline tour will follow a summer of high profile moments for the band. First up is the biggest headline show of their career to date, a 5000-capacity outdoor event at Glasgow’s Rouken Glen Park on June 6th, a special opening concert for this year’s The Reeling festival. They will also headline the Thursday night at the HebCelt festival; play a free show at Aberdeen’s Quayside Concerts on July 20th with guest Calum Bowie as part of The Tall Ships Race festivities; and are also confirmed for the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
