Steps to Health

Our walking groups are provided for free, so offer the opportunity for weekly group exercise at no cost. Each walk finishes with tea/coffee in a local community venue offering access to a warm space to chat with others. Walks run from a variety of venues across the city, so are accessible and many are in walking distance of local communities, meaning for some, no travel costs to get there. As well as providing no cost, physical activity including walking is proven to have benefits in terms of improving mental health and the social aspects of the walks help reduce the feeling of isolation and provide an opportunity for peer support and the sharing of experiences.

Walks are open to all, however, we have a range of target groups: those affected by cancer, those living with dementia, adults with additional support needs, those who have had a bereavement, adults with a variety of long term health conditions, parents with young children.
