As part of the upcoming ‘Reflections on Celts’ exhibition at The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery & Museum Dr Fraser Hunter, principal curator of Iron Age and Roman Collections at National Museums Scotland will be visiting on Wednesday September 7 to give a talk ‘Celts: Art and Identity’. He will focus on two spectacular mirrors on loan from the National Museums of Scotland and British Museum.
The two mirrors on display – the British Museum’s Holcombe mirror and National Museums Scotland’s Balmaclellan mirror – tell very different stories, and help us to understand the relationships between communities in Britain 2,000 years ago.
Before the talk there will be an opportunity to view the new ‘Reflections on Celts’ exhibition which opens Thursday September 1.
Doors open at 6pm, the talk begins at 6:30pm. Free tickets are available at celtsdundee.eventbrite.co.uk
The Reflections on Celts is a spotlight tour in partnership National Museums Scotland and the British Museum. The tour is generously supported by the Dorset Foundation.
