Dundee Sports Awards

This award will be presented to a student (or pair of students volunteering together) who have shown dedication and commitment to volunteering within a school and/or the community in the past 12 months. This award recognises a student/pair of students who have gone above and beyond as a volunteer. The nomination should demonstrate the impact this student/s volunteering has had on a school/club/individuals.

1. The nominee must be volunteering within a Dundee based sports organisation, school or programme.
2. The student/s is not required to be a resident of Dundee but is required to be making a significant contribution to sport in Dundee.
3. The nominee must not receive any monetary awards for their time given to the activities detailed within the nomination, other than expenses.
4. Only commitment contributed between April 2023 and March 2024 will be taken into consideration.

This award will be presented to an individual aged 12 or above and under the age of 21 who has shown outstanding commitment as a volunteer in school and/or community sport throughout the past 12 months. Please highlight the impact this young person has had on a school/club/individuals.

This award will be presented to an individual with a physical, learning, or sensory disability in recognition of their commitment and achievements in sport over the past 12 months.

Jenny Wood Allen was an inspiration to all who heard of her amazing marathon running achievements. She championed sports for people with a disability and in 1994 donated “The Jenny Wood Allen” trophy. Following Jenny’s death at the age of 99, Dundee City Disability Sport renamed the award the Jenny Wood Allen Memorial Trophy which continues to honour the commitment and achievements of athletes with a physical, learning or sensory disability.

The Lifetime Commitment Award will be presented to a dedicated individual who has given a lifetime’s commitment to sport either in a school or community setting. This could include time as an athlete, coach, volunteer or official.

Nominate

This award will be presented to a school that has excelled in sport over the last 12 months. This award recipient will have developed extra-curricular sporting opportunities and use sport to support achieving wider school outcomes. This school will have demonstrated a whole school approach to creating a range of extra-curricular school sport opportunities. The school actively encouraged participation in school sport and support volunteers to provide opportunities for all children to take part in school sport. The school also provides clear pathways to a range of community sport opportunities to encourage lifelong participation for all pupils.
