This photograph shows part of the north side of Dundee's Perth Road.
Alexander Wilson, the joiner, is listed in the Dundee Directory as No. 63a Perth Road. The sign says 'successor to Islay B. Murray'. An Islay B. Murray is listed as a houseagent at No. 13 Overgate, living at Auburn Terrace, Invergowrie.
Charles Dye the chimney sweep seems to have been part of a dynasty. George Dye is listed at No. 21 Hilltown, James at No. 77 Overgate, James junior at No. 4 Victoria Street and William at No. 39 Ferry Road. Charles is also listed at No. 96 Murraygate.
Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
