This section of the south side of Dundee's High Street is framed by Castle Street to the east at the left hand side and William Bell's tailor business at the right hand side.
The advertisement on the corner is for M. Craig, fancy wool repository and underclothing, at No. 3 Castle Street.
Between Smith Brothers and Henry Adams & Co. is Tindall's Wynd, which led to Castle Lane and on to Shore Terrace.
Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
