High Street, Dundee

High Street, Dundee - Ref: WC0210

This photograph shows the south-east end of Dundee High Street, with the North British Hotel, which stands at the junction with Castle Street, the focal point (the spire belongs to St Paul's Cathedral, which is directly behind).

Keillor's the confectioner is at No. 2 Castle Street, while Smith Brothers the clothiers are No. 4 High Street, beside Tindal's Wynd.

The National Boot Company unfortunately does not appear in any Dundee Directory listing.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
