At No 3 South Lindsay Street is the Dental Practice of Dr J. Stewart, Surgeon Dentist, established in 1842. Offered a Set of Artificial Teeth for 1 Guinea and a single tooth for 2s 6d. Next door at No 4 Lindsay Street is A. Birnie Scientific Instrument Maker & Photographic Apparatus Maker.


Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
