A bonus offer to encourage everyone in Dundee to get involved in a healthy lifestyle has just been enhanced. ‘Pedal to the Pool’ will now provide everyone with a free swim upon showing a selfie as proof that they have cycled to Leisure & Culture Dundee swim centres. The scheme was first introduced in 2017 for children and has now been extended to include everyone in the city until 19 April 2018 which includes the upcoming school holidays.
Sinclair Aitken, Chair of Leisure &Culture Dundee said
“Leading a healthier lifestyle just became even easier. I’m sure families will welcome the opportunity to make a day of swimming and cycling in Dundee for free during the Easter holidays.”
Cllr Kevin Cordell, Dundee City Council's spokesperson on cycling said
"This is a great scheme that gives youngsters, and for the first time this year the adults that are with them, the chance of two types of free healthy exercise during the school holidays.
"Cycling and swimming are both great ways of getting and staying healthy, and a scheme like this that combines the two must be double bubble."
Additionally, If your bike hasn’t been out for a while and you want to check it’s safe to use, take advantage of the ‘Dr Bike’ events taking place in City Square at 12-3pm on the 28 March and 11 April, where you can get your bike checked over and minor repairs carried out for free and some experts will be on hand to offer tips and tricks to safe cycling in Dundee.
Under the ‘Pedal to the Pool’ initiative anyone swims for free when they arrive at Olympia, Lochee, Grove, Harris or St Paul’s swimming pool by bike. Pedal to the Pool has been made possible thanks to support from the Scottish Government’s Smarter Choices Smarter Places programme, Dundee City Council and Leisure & Culture Dundee.
The offer is subject to Leisure & Culture Dundee’s Child Admission Policy at public swim sessions only.
