ParkLives does 9 to 5 at Slessor Gardens

ParkLives held a free lunchtime yoga session at Slessor Gardens to celebrate National Employee Health and Fitness Day and encourage office workers to take advantage of the growing outdoor and urban fitness craze which is sweeping the nation. Delivered by teams from Leisure & Culture Dundee and Dundee City Council in partnership with Coca-Cola Great Britain, ParkLives sessions help local parks come to life with activities that bring communities together and improve wellbeing.

Lisa North Health & Wellbeing Officer at Leisure & Culture Dundee said

"We know that being stuck in an office all day can sometimes be frustrating especially when the sun is shining. That’s why we are putting on lunchtime yoga, powerhoop and stretch and tone  sessions so that workers can grab a bit of feel-good relaxation during their working day and we even have run and fitness sessions after work to de-stress."

"ParkLives is great fun, we see a lot of friendship groups forming and plenty of smiling faces after each session, but it also plays a serious role in helping to improve the wellbeing of people in our city."

Liz Lowe, Sustainability Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain said

"We’re delighted to support National Employee Health and Fitness day through our ParkLives programme in Dundee. There’s nothing better for clearing the mind and lifting the mood than being outside in green space. We’ll be running free lunchtime yoga in local parks, encouraging people to leave their desks for a moment, get out in the fresh air and connect with colleagues."

Sessions are hosted by trained, friendly and passionate leaders and volunteers from the local area. Activities are group-based, and everyone can go at their own pace.

ParkLives is part of a £20 million commitment by Coca-Cola Great Britain to invest in community-based programmes.

ParkLives runs in nine cities nationwide this year as well as reaching many more locations through a partnership with StreetGames, the long-standing charity partner of Coca-Cola Great Britain that brings sports and activities to the doorsteps of disadvantaged communities across the UK.
