Keep Scotland Beautiful presents Silver accreditation to leading leisure trust
Environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful, has been accredited Leisure & Culture Dundee with a Silver in the National Awards for Environmental Excellence. The award acknowledges Leisure & Culture Dundee’s commitment to improving environmental quality.
The accolade recognises the environmental performance of their Leisure and Sports services at ten audited sites, both indoor and outdoor facilities, including swimming pools, Dundee Ice Arena and Camperdown Wildlife Centre.
Following visits to Leisure & Culture Dundee sites, staff were commended for their work in improving waste infrastructure, engaging young people in sport and forging partnerships with the local community.
The Environmental Excellence Award scheme is open to companies and organisations throughout Scotland and acts as a benchmark for corporate environmental performance. All entrants are assessed by the Keep Scotland Beautiful Local Environmental Quality Team and can be awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
Graham Wark, Head of Leisure and Sport Services said
“We are absolutely committed to improving our environmental impact, so we are delighted that our efforts have been recognised by Keep Scotland Beautiful in this way. We are also really pleased that our partnerships in our communities and work with young people across the Leisure and Sport service have been highlighted, as these are areas we have been working hard to develop further. Our aim will now be to improve our score and achieve the Gold award in the next audit.”
Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful said
“Keep Scotland Beautiful is working closely with businesses and organisations across Scotland, helping them take direct action to address local environmental impact. The Environmental Excellence Awards provides an exciting opportunity to assess and reward their efforts.
“We are delighted with the continued achievements of Leisure and Culture Dundee – moving up a level from Bronze to Silver since the last audit. They have shown commitment to improving their facilities and the surrounding environment and we hope that this sets the bar for many more across the country.”
