Free bus travel for Dashing Santas!

Xplore Dundee is offering free bus travel for anyone taking part in the city’s very first charity Santa Dash.

The operator will allow participants dressed in costume to board without charge on the day of the event, Sunday 26th November, and is encouraging local people to sign up for this worthwhile event, aimed at raising money for the ARCHIE Foundation.

Managing Director Elsie Turbyne said, “We are delighted to support Dundee’s very first Santa Dash – it sounds like it will be fantastic family fun and is in aid of a very worthy local cause.
“We’re encouraging all these Santas to leave the sleigh at home, give the reindeer a rest and catch the bus into the city centre for free travel to this excellent event!”

The Santa Dash involves dressing up as Father Christmas to walk or run a 2km route around Dundee City Centre which can be completed once or twice.  Adults and children are invited to register for the dash and the fee includes a Santa suit (or hat for young children), Finisher’s Medal, Certificate and Goodie Bag.

The profits from the event will go to the ARCHIE Foundation, the official charity of Tayside Children’s Hospital, which is attempting to raise £2m towards a twin theatre operating suite.

Sinclair Aitken, Chair of Leisure & Culture Dundee said, "It's amazing to hear how the whole city is getting behind our Santa Dash and we are very grateful to Xplore Dundee for their generous offer of free bus travel for all the Santas taking part. This will make it easy for runners and families to get to the event from all over Dundee and is yet another reason to sign up and help raise lots of cash for the ARCHIE Foundation."
