Final Call for applications to the Dundee Musicians Award 2017/18

Leisure & Culture Dundee have issued a final call for applications to the second round of the Dundee Musicians Award 2017/18 before the closing date on Friday 19 January 2018. Grants up to a maximum of £500 are available.

The Dundee Musicians Award is staged by Leisure & Culture Dundee. The Award was established in 2008 to support the work of outstanding Dundee-based musicians by awarding grants towards the costs involved in creating new work in any genre, research and professional development.

This year with the support of Dundee Place Partnership they are also, offering the opportunity for Dundee based musicians to apply to the mentoring scheme. The programme will support two successful applicants to develop and progress their creative practice over 12 months. Tailored to the individual musician, the programme will include mentoring which may lead to the development of skills and training or creation of work. A bursary of £500 will be awarded to the successful applicants, plus fees for the mentor and there is a smaller budget available for additional support if required.

Past winners include Robbie Ward, Kevin Findlay, The Hazey Janes, The Mirror Trap, Fat Goth, Michael Marra, Scary People, AMWWF, Charlotte Brimner and many more.

Sinclair Aitken, Chair of Leisure & Culture Dundee said

"The Dundee Musicians Award has supported a wide range of projects since its inception in 2008. This year Dundee Place Partnership has increased funding to support mentoring and this exciting development will continue to enhance and raise the profile of the excellent and diverse music coming out of Dundee."

Mark Keiller from the band Fat Goth said

"The Dundee Musicians Award provides bands/acts with a really significant local source of funding, and for us it is going a long way towards the production of our fourth album"
