Six local societies, The Royal Scottish Geographical Society Dundee Centre, The Friends of Dundee City Archives, Dundee Art Society, The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, The Friends of the University of Dundee Botanic Gardens and Abertay Historical Society have organised a fascinating series of talks. Open to all members of the public.

Wednesday 6th November
Gillian Molloy - The Street Names of Old Dundee
To establish a coherent record, Gillian Molloy painstakingly researched government records, family business papers and property transactions, and so doing dispelled many misleading myths and the origins of Dundee street names.

Wednesday 11th December
George Anderson - Travels in Chile
George Anderson of Beechgrove Garden fame accompanied by a group from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh on a trip to Chile. Join them as they travel through a land few of us will visit.

Wednesday 8th January
Rob Duck - Two Centuries of Appreciation and Modification. What Might the Future Hold for the Tay
2020 has been designated "Scottish Year of Coasts and Waters. In celebration of the mighty Tay, Professor Duck will look at the impacts of human intervention over the last 200 years, and how climate change since the Industrial Revolution might effect future sea levels.

Alasdair Lemon - Gardening for Wildlife
What steps can you take to help wildlife in your garden and 'Give Nature a Home'. Ally Lemon will describe the types of gardening features and plants that can be used and what varieties of insects and birds they will attract.

Wednesday 4th March
Seaside Spaces-Tidal Tales and Creative Geographies
Dr Susan P. Mains, Geographer at the University of Dundee, will take us on a journey through seaside towns, humble harbours and majestic views. How have coastal communities and landscapes inspired creative activities and how might we harness these engaging spaces to encourage new connections to place?
