The Scottish Coworking Network opens its latest Coworking Hub in Dundee Central Library today, offering dedicated workspace for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
With eight fixed desks and five hot desks and a breakout area, the Hub has everything today’s modern worker needs. Based in the city’s Wellgate Centre, it’s also the ideal location for any entrepreneur or start-up looking for a city centre location.
The Scottish Coworking Network is the first national network of its kind and aims to create a network of business hubs in underused spaces in Scotland’s public libraries. The Dundee Hub is the latest coworking space to open, with other SCN Hubs located in Edinburgh Central Library, Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries, Troon Library and Inverness Library.
Members of the Network will be able to book a hot desk or fixed desk at Dundee from £35 per month (plus VAT). They can also access desks at other SCN coworking hubs throughout Scotland free of charge.
SLIC Chief Executive Pamela Tulloch explained
“Scotland’s public libraries offer the perfect environment to support aspiring entrepreneurs. Libraries are located at the heart of communities, they are connected, and offer an abundance of information and resources.
“The hubs offer equal access to a support structure that will help people turn their passions and ideas into sustainable employment. They are ideal for small sole traders and those who may be currently running a small business from their kitchen or dining room table.
“This project is further demonstration of the changing role of public libraries and how services are transforming to ensure they meet the needs of modern communities.”
Jayne Gair, Library Performance & Resources Section Leader at Leisure & Culture Dundee said
“We are really excited about the opening of the Coworking Hub. Dundee Library and Information Service has always been responsive to changing needs and Central Library is an ideal location at the heart of the city. The transformed area is an accessible, well equipped space, giving entrepreneurs and small businesses a great opportunity to develop their ideas, alongside others who share their enthusiasm and ambition to grow.”
